DALLAS ALLERGY TESTING & ALLERGY TREATMENT

COULD YOU BE ALLERGIC?

Allergy Testing (Including Food Allergy Testing) – Plano, TX

Allergic disease (also known as allergies) are a number of conditions caused by an abnormal immune response to foreign substances in your body. Trying to find everything that you are allergic to is difficult (and sometimes dangerous).

Allergy testing should be performed by an expert that can properly diagnose what triggers your immune response. Once you know exactly what you are allergic to, your allergy doctor can develop a personalized treatment plan to provide allergy relief.

Did you know that untreated allergic disease can be the main cause of many illnesses such as insomnia, sinusitis, headaches & migraines, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, depression, muscle aches, joint pain, back pain and much more?

Allergy testing, physical exams and your complete medical history are the most reliable, cost-effective, and safe approaches to finding what you are allergic to.

What Happens During Allergy Testing?

The healthcare providers at The Pain Relief Center perform allergy testing work to safely identify allergens based on skin reactions. Dr. Rodriguez will expose your immune system to specific allergens and will evaluate your body’s reaction to the suspected allergen.

Skin tests are the most common type of allergy testing in Dallas. These are also called a scratch test, a patch test, or a skin test.

Like many other allergy testing facilities, we use skin testing to narrow down the root cause to a particular allergen or allergens.

Skin testing begins by placing a “skin tester” on your back. The “skin tester” exposes your skin to many different substances at once.

In some instances, we may issue a blood test instead. Blood tests are typically reserved for those who are more at risk for severe allergic reactions. And, for those with food allergies, we may recommend an elimination diet to isolate which foods you’re eating are triggering allergic reactions.

Make sure that you avoid any antihistamines for at least 48 hours prior the allergy test to ensure the best results.

Benefits of Allergy Testing

If you have untreated allergy symptoms you might be unaware of how much better you will feel once your symptoms are diagnosed and managed.

We urge those who are suffering with allergy symptoms to avoid self-diagnosing. Many who choose to self-diagnose restrict their diet unnecessarily, which can lead to deficiencies.

Allergies should be tested by an experienced allergy specialist, who has years of experience and knows what to look for in specific allergens.

ALLERGY TESTING IN DALLAS

Food Allergies

When the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks a food or specific ingredient, an allergic reaction occurs. While food allergies can begin at any age, most occur in children and babies. While some of our patients are confident of the food or foods that trigger reactions, some are unsure. This is where testing for food allergies can really help.

The most common food allergies include:

  • egg

  • milk

  • soy

  • wheat

  • peanuts

  • shellfish

  • tree nuts

  • fish

Allergic reactions to food can range from a mild to a severe allergic reaction, life-threatening in some cases.

Allergy symptoms associated with food allergies can include sneezing, itching, cramping, runny nose, nausea or vomiting, rash, diarrhea, hives, and swelling in the lips or mouth.

A potentially dangerous side effect of an allergic reaction to food is called eosinophilic esophagitis. This presents as a feeling of food stuck in the esophagus, when in reality, it is not.

We do not conduct food allergy tests for anything that could cause anaphylactic shock like shellfish or peanuts.

This procedure is quick and painless, but if you are allergic to any of the substances, you may experience some itching. This process will only take 20 minutes. Be sure to take this time to ask your allergy doctor any questions.

While lifestyle change to avoid contact allergens may provide temporary relief, it’s almost impossible to completely remove some of the more common allergens. And if you’ve struggled with allergies, you understand the harsh side effects that come with taking allergy medications.

The Pain Relief Center located in Dallas, TX, we offer a superior means of allergy relief for those who need it!

If needed, you may be recommended a special allergy treatment called home immunotherapy. Home immunotherapy is a process in which a serum (similar to insulin shots) is created based on your test results.

The allergy tech will make sure that you able administer the sreum to yourself correctly by yourself. Over time the serum will build up your immune system to the allergens you are allergic to. This form of allergy treatment saves time because it doesn’t require multiple trips to the doctor’s office.
