M\u00e9dico (HIPAA) de 1996 sirve para proteger la privacidad de los registros m\u00e9dicos y la informaci\u00f3n contenida en el archivo de un paciente. Los proveedores de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y los planes de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica est\u00e1n obligados legalmente a cumplir con esta ley. Seg\u00fan la HIPAA, tiene derecho a solicitar sus registros m\u00e9dicos en cualquier momento. Tambi\u00e9n debe otorgar autorizaci\u00f3n para la revisi\u00f3n de sus registros por parte de los proveedores de salud, que es la exenci\u00f3n de HIPAA que firma en la mayor\u00eda de las oficinas de los proveedores. Tambi\u00e9n puede presentar una queja a su proveedor o al gobierno de los EE. UU.
